RadioShack's Truly Staggering Incompetence

My mother lives out of state and she called me telling me about a deal that RadioShack had going where if you are available to sign up for a new 2 year contract with AT&T (possibly other carriers), you get a $50 dollar discount on the phone's price under contract in addition of up to $153.00 for our current existing iPhone 4s 32GB (in mint condition). What this means that potentially you can upgrade from an iPhone 4 to a iPhone 4s under new 2 year contract for only $96 + sales tax, or even possibly make bank with the upgrade if you downgraded to 16GB versions. At first this all sounded great, but then slowly through experience I was made aware of RadioShack's incompetency (it was almost as if they didn't know what they are doing at all, and they having been making a killing on this promotion - it began Mother's Day and has been extended indefinitely given the programs success).

Given what I was told, I called a local RadioShack and expressed interest in the program. The local RadioShack employees and manager explicitly made it clear they do not have any 32GB iPhone 4s's in black and they are out throughout the country. The local RadioShack out in another state where my Mother lives said they have over 200 available at their distribution center. I finally get these two managers to talk for a few minutes and my local RadioShack store manager was wrong, he didn't know how to access the Direct2U warehouse inventory. He said: come in, no problem we'll get you setup. Over 15 hours has been spent in total (actually more if you include the fact I have been waiting all day to receive the order), only to find out they have been shipped to my Mother's address (they were suppose to ship them to me) and now she must out of her own pocket ship them back to me so I can bring them into the store to be activated (because they inactivated them after the order was placed so we could continue to use or phones). The rest of the hours in RadioShack were all caught up in the logistics of handling this order since my Mom is out of state. In fairness, some of that is to be expected, but I have committed a better part of a whole 24 hours all said in done and instead of receiving the phones and having them work on the day they were suppose to: I now have to wait two days or more (depending on how much my Mom is willing to spend on expediting the shipping), and for my Mom, she has to wait for 3-4 more days. We were told they would be overnighted to us, they were right, but too bad they were incompetent enough to make it not happen. There are other levels of idiocy that has occurred similar to this, but too much too name. Too much time spent in the store and on the phone with them to mention.

It actually took me having to find out the actual tracking page for Direct2U orders where you can provide a phone number to track your order (it wasn't easy): http://corpinfo.radioshack.com/wirelessd2u/.

This is in contrast to the page that usually pops up if you Google it your typical way: http://corpinfo.radioshack.com/Direct2UOrderStatusLookup/. You may question what the problem is with this page, well when you order Direct2U through the store, they didn't provide me a tracking number, order number, or reference number that worked. And I called them to see if they could even check on it and they said they could not, but rather not to worry because they would be overnighted.

I just figured the first link I posted might help others in similar situations be able to track their packages if they similarly did a Direct2U in store, and for those that have loved ones that are in different states, but on the same plan - to avoid the headache we've had to be subjected to in these circumstances.

Don't even get me started with the other incompetencies such as not considering inserting a new microsim and writing down the number then shipping it to my Mom so she doesn't have to be without a phone until it arrives. An oversight perhaps?

All said and done/what it means: means I have to wait another 2+ days for my iPhone to arrive, and another 3-4 days for my Mom's to arrive.
